On March 29, 2020, Ma Xinmin, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan, met with Burhan, President of the Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Burhan, to exchange with him views on issues of common interest concerning the COVID-19 epidemic, China-Sudan relations and bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Ma briefed Burhan on China’s forcible measures against the spread of the novel coronavirus and the positive effects achieved, and appreciated Sudan’s sympathy and support to China, stating that the epidemic situation in China is now getting better and better, with the production and life getting back on the right track quickly and the dawn of victory over the virus drawing near. However, given the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus and the severe challenge confronted by Sudan, global joint response to the pandemic is the most pressing task, he said, adding that China firmly supports Sudan’s fight against the epidemic and will, in the spirit of a community of a shared future for mankind, offer help to Sudan to the best of its capabilities to jointly protect the life and health of the two peoples and safeguard global and regional public health security. He noted that China stands ready to work together with Sudan to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation in various areas and push China-Sudan strategic relationship to a new level.

Spoking highly of the decisive and strong measures taken by the China government to contain the spread of the virus and expressing his sincere congratulations to China’s placing the epidemic under control, Burhan said that China’s victory is a positive news for the world and he is confident that China will completely conquer the virus soon. With enduring friendship between the two nations, China has always offered Sudan strong help and great assistance in various areas and Sudan is grateful for the test reagents and medical supplies provided by China at this difficult moment. He reiterated that Sudan will firmly stand alongside China and hopes to learn from China’s successful experience in epidemic response and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in health and medical care between the two countries.
