Premier Li Keqiang Speaks by Phone with Sudanese Transitional Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok

Premier Li Keqiang took a phone call from Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok of the transitional government of Sudan on the evening of April 16, 2020.

Li highlighted the profound traditional friendship between China and Sudan, and noted the threat the Sudanese people face, posed by the recent quick spread of COVID-19 in Africa. Li said that the Chinese people feel keenly for the Sudanese people, and will stand firmly with them and provide support and help as best as they can. Li noted that viruses are a common enemy of humanity, and no country can tackle this disease on its own. Li said that the Chinese people will work with people in Africa and the wider world in solidarity and partnership in this trying time to safeguard global public health security.

Hamdok commended China's active role in the international cooperation on combating COVID-19 and expressed Sudan's opposition to stigma against any particular country. He conveyed appreciation for China's selfless assistance, and said that Sudan wishes to strengthen anti-epidemic cooperation and experience sharing with China and deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries.
