Notice of the Chinese Embassy in Sudan on Adjusting the Requirements for Applying for Visas to China

According to the latest domestic requirements, the Chinese Embassy in Sudan will adjust the requirements for foreigners applying for visas to China starting from 0:00 (GMT+8) on March 15, 2023. The adjusted visa application process and material requirements are as follows:

I. Application Process

i. Applicants can fill in the electronic application form online through the China Online Visa Application system (https://cova.mfa.gov.cn), and use the Appointment for Visa Application Submission system (https://avas.mfa.gov.cn) to make an appointment for a date and time to apply for the visa.

ii. Applicants are requested to submit the application in person at the Chinese Embassy in Sudan according to the appointment time, where ten fingerprints will be collected on the spot. Fingerprint collection is exempted for the following persons:

(i) Applicants under the age of 14 or above the age of 70;

(ii) Applicants who suffer from ten fingers mutilation or whose fingerprints cannot be collected;

(iii) Applicants that the Chinese Embassy in Sudan approves their exemption from collecting fingerprints.

iii. Applicants for diplomatic, official and courtesy visas do not need to make an appointment. They only need to fill in and print out the application form online through the China Online Visa Application system (https://cova.mfa.gov.cn), and submit relevant application materials directly to the Chinese Embassy in Sudan.

II. Material Requirements

i. Basic application materials

(i) Passport: The original passport with a validity period of no less than 6 months and blank visa pages and a copy of the information page.

(ii) Visa application form: "Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China", "Confirmation of Online Visa Application" and "AVAS Confirmation". Please fill in the form truthfully and completely online, download and print out all pages of the form and sign on the corresponding places on the application form and confirmation page.

(iii) Photo: Small 2-inch (48mm×33mm) recent, full-faced, color (light-colored background), bareheaded, passport photo, please paste it on the application form.

(iv) Legal residence certificate (applicable to non-Sudanese citizens): When applying for a visa in Sudan, non-Sudanese citizens must provide 1) a third country certificate and 2) a valid certificate of legal residence, work or study in Sudan, or a valid Sudanese visaand its photocopy.

(v) Original Chinese passport (applicable to those who once had Chinese nationality and then get citizenship in another country): If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you must provide the original Chinese passport and a copy of the information page.

(vi) Original Chinese visa: If you have previously obtained a Chinese visa and apply for a visa with a new passport, you must provide the original foreign passport information page and a copy of the previously obtained Chinese visa.

(vii) Proof of change of name: If the name recorded in the new passport is inconsistent with the original passport, the relevant official certificate of change of name must be provided.

(viii) Other materials deemed necessary by the Embassy.

ii. Other supporting application materials (if the original is not clearly required, only the photocopy needs to be provided; if the original is clearly required, both the original and the photocopy must be provided)

(1) Personal information of the invitee: name, gender, date of birth, etc.;

(2) Itinerary information of the invitee: arrival and departure date, travel location, etc

(3) Information of the inviting entity or inviter: name of the inviting entity or inviter, contact number, address, seal of the entity, signature of the legal representative or inviter, etc.

S1 visa (residence)

S2 visa (visiting relatives)

Spouse, parents, children under the age of 18, parents-in-law of Z visa or work-type residence permit holders

(i) Original copy of the proof of kinship between the applicant and the inviter (such as proof of family relationship, proof of marriage relationship, marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.)

(ii) Invitation letter issued by foreigners working in China (Note 1)

(iii) Passport and residence permit of the inviter

*If adult children and their spouses apply for a family visit (S2) visa, in addition to the above materials, they must also submit a corresponding statement of circumstances as required by the consular officer

Q1 visa (reunion)

(i) Foreign family members of Chinese citizens

(ii) Foreign family members of foreigners with permanent residence status in China

(i) Original copy of the proof of kinship between the applicant and the inviter(marriage certificate, birth certificate, kinship certificate issued by the police station or notarized kinship certificate, etc.)

(ii) Invitation letter issued by Chinese citizens living in China or foreigners with Chinese permanent residence status (Note 1)

(iii) The Chinese identity certificate of the inviter (such as Chinese ID card, household registration book) or foreigner's passport and Chinese permanent residence permit

Note 1: The invitation letter must include the following:

a. Personal information of the invitee: name, gender, date of birth, etc.;

b. Visit information of the invitee: reason for coming to China, intended date of arrival, intended place of residence, intended duration of stay (or date of arrival and departure, place of visit), relationship with the inviter, sponsor of expenses, etc.;

c. Information of the inviter: name of the inviter, contact number, address, signature of the inviter, etc.

Note 2: If you apply for an emergency humanitarian visa for going to China for a funeral or visiting a critically ill relative, etc., you need to submit the identity document of the deceased or critically ill patient (such as Chinese ID card, foreigner passport, etc.), death certificate or medical certificate issued by the hospital, critical illness notice, family relationship certificate and other materials.

III. Attentions

i. Applicants must fill in all the contents of the visa application form truthfully and completely. False information, omissions, etc. may lead to a delay in visa approval or even a visa refusal.

ii. When necessary, consular officers may request the applicant to provide other supporting documents or supplementary materials, or request the applicant to accept an interview.

iii. Consular officers shall decide whether to issue a visa and the validity period, duration of stay and number of entries of the visa according to the specific circumstances of the applicant.
